Why SNAP-ARL-ASDS doesnt support high speed count module?

We want to use SNAP-ARL-ASDS in a special control application.

The hig speed count module is key module for this application and we have tested opto22 high speed count module is ok,

but the SNAP-ARL-ASDS doesnt support this module. Why?

Re: Why SNAP-ARL-ASDS doesnt support high speed count module?
Actually in the product specsheet it does state that the product does not support high speed hardware counters and latches are not supported for digital I/O, but I suppose thats much help to you now.  The tecnical reason is that the controller does not include the specific ASIC hardware circuitry required to directly read the high speed pulses.  I presume the ability to directly port Linux developed code onto the controller was the main attaction when chosing this over the SNAP-PAC-R1 processor which would solve your problem but require the application code to be developed in the PAC Control environment.

Talk directly to Opto22 Support on this one.  Opto22 does have some new product coming out real soon that should solve your problem and make you happy again.  Maybe you can negociate trading in your SNAP-ARL-ASDS processor!

Maybe this question should be moved to the "Other Hardware Systems".  Tecnically the SNAP-ARL-ASDL processor is part of the SNAP family but is not part of the PAC family, which is where your original mistake got you into the problem.  Not everything that you can do in PAC hardware can be done in other hardware systems available from Opto22, even though common SNAP modules may be used by all processors.  Its best to talk to Opto22 or your local Opto Distributer/Partner before purchasing, they can advise you of any compatability issues if they understand a little about your application.
