Pwer Industry Protocol Support

There are several protocols used in the Power Industry one of the most common ones is DNP, several devices (protection that are triggered by frequency, voltage, current variations) are DNP slaves.

Has anyone developed a DNP master for Pac Controllers, either over serial ports or TCP?

Even better, if the Protocol is well structured and sections off the program can be changed for the device port type.

Tks

Fernando,

You're in luck. Opto has recently released a DNP3 Integration Kit for PAC Control. I've described it in more detail in this OptoForums post:

David:

It is only half of what is required since the DNP Integration Kit is used to convert the Controller in an OUTSTATION and not a MASTER, what would be really usefull is to have the DNP MASTER included in the Kit in such a way that a PAC S could act as a MASTER and talk to DNP OUTSTATIONS using either or both the Eth 2 port and any of the RS485 ports on the PAC S or the PAC R with serial modules installed.

This feature would allow a PAC to become a concentrator and not just a DNP OUTSTATION.

Thanks
