AS-Interface connected to Snap Ultimate I/O
I'm wondering if anybody has ever connected an ASI bus (see: http://www.as-interface.com ) to an Opto22 Ultimate or Ethernet brain. To my opinion there are two different way's to do it: one directly to a SNAP serial module, however I doubt wether it is fast enough, and the other through an ASI master interface. What is your experience with the combination Opto/ASI?

Let me know if you find someone who has written an interface chart. As far as the serial module speed, unless you want to scan it 100/sec I suspect it should be, I found no real speed problems when I wrote an ascii driver to scan a mag meter. The modules will talk at 115.2K although the real problem is how often you want to scan it. I know the ASI is scanned pretty often on Siemens plcs.

buy the asi master and connect via ethernet or other control network. ifm/efector has as-i masters that connect directly to AB and siemens backplanes, as well as networked asi masters that pass the data back to the plc via profibus, devicenet, canopen, or ethernet. ethernet looks like the best choice for opto22. AC1317 is part number, i have been shopping this issue for several weeks now.
