The original TDU boxes are based on an early 2.x firmware running on a B3000-ENET Brain. As life has moved on, its probably better to present the TDU functionality on a UP1 processor running V5.x firmware and updated ioManager, being more than prepared if the customer asks for a programmable environment beyond the configurable memory map functionality. (Known in the business as the LYPB... scenario “Like Your Product, But...”) We encountered the usual time travel problems in trying to upgrade cross platform, so decided to rewrite the TDU demo functionality in the UP1 MemoryMap from scratch (sic!). You can now just unscrew the B3000-ENET processor and replace with a SNAP-UP1 processor. Then using ioManager, send the IOUnit image file and modify the necessary SNMP Agent parameters. To avoid defocusing any presentation by trying to demo a seamless integration with TNG/Tivoli/OpenView and/or their associated agent software, we just use SNMP Trap Watcher (available as freeware from www.bttsoftware.co.uk). We have also written some simple code under VBasic to switch the demo units alarm output on and off, showing how any NMS software can read and write to the TDU via SNMP, using the OID’s and the OptoMIB. If anyone in PlanetOpto needs a copy of any of the above just get in touch. It just could save you more than a few days work!
