Opto 22 hard at work in an asphalt plant.
Asphalt batch plant control. An aging asphalt plant in our company was in need of a new start/ stop control panel. The old controls had timer relays, interlocks, indicator lights, and a massive button panel. Two sections of the control contained amp meters, potentiometers, toggle switches, temperature controllers, and voltage meters. The main control of the six aggregate feeders was a master potentiometer over the individual feeder potentiometer. This is no real way to control the plants TPH without guessing the settings. The Opto 22 Snap line using Factory Floor Software was a perfect fit for the change over. Reducing space consumed for plant control to a mere PC and has allowed us to use a smaller, more portable control house. More than 80 switches, amp meters, temperature controllers, and potentiometers are now Snap modules. Control of the plant has changed from a job to ease of use. With Opto 22 the guesswork of the cold feed is gone. PID control over the feeders has lowered the material waste greatly. Self-trouble shooting has proven to be a time saver. Plant startup sequence is complete with the option of one click. All timing, interlocks, and indicators are now controlled using Opto 22 with the addition of many more new control items. Reports generated at the end of the production run aids in analyzing cost. I am always thinking of new ideas for our plants. With Opto 22, integrating more control or software changes is easy. Thanks Opto 22, with your products I can create complex control with operator ease of use.
