Meat Packer Saves Plant Through Energy Management
At the Mariah Meat Packing Plant, rising utility costs were reducing profits and threatening the plant's very existence.
Holmes Energy installed Opto 22 products and an AutoPilot Energy Information System to monitor Mariah's electrical usage in real time.
This detailed data pinpointed problems with Mariah's refrigeration system, which consumed two thirds of the plant's total electrical energy, and saved Mariah hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Search for Accurate Billing Figures Leads to Energy Savings
Thomson/RCA needed accurate, detailed energy costs to bill individual departments and lessees at their 80+ acre facility in Indiana.
There, a central boiler plant provided chilled water, compressed air, heat, and domestic hot water to several buildings.
Opto 22 hardware and software, plus an AutoPilot Energy Information System, solved the problem by providing energy data on over 100 I/O points.
This data also made the company aware of possible utility cost savings. Air compressor electrical costs were reduced by 20%, and that was just the beginning.

Grocer Profits from Demand-Response Program
Grocer SUPERVALU, one of the largest companies in their industry, not only reduced energy costs through monitoring but also gained revenue through a sophisticated demand-response program.
An Opto 22 system installed by Advanced Energy Control (AEC) reduced energy consumption in two of the company's huge refrigerated distribution centers, saving over $150,000 per year.
The system also provides automation for the lucrative demand-response program, run by Net Peak Energy Group. First, the utility company pays SUPERVALU for their agreement to reduce demand in case of an emergency. In addition, SUPERVALU curtails their energy use during periods when energy prices are high and effectively sells energy back to the utility company at a profit.
