First SNAP-PAC Training Course in Espanol!

Hola Everyone!

Last week I had the honor of being a part of the first foreign language SNAP Ethernet Systems Course.  This is the same course that we offer continuously to certify Opto 22 users on the SNAP-PAC hardware.  All of the attendees flew in from different parts of Mexico and Opto 22 was helped by Ing. Jose Juan Valdes Rios of our distributor Instrumentacion y Control 22 S.A. de C.V. (IC22).  All but one of the attendees has purchased and installed Opto 22 hardware in the past and were now ready to learn extensively on how best to implement PACs in their applications.

We had people from the Petroleum Industry from Servicios Petrotec who's kind disposition was only outdone by their vision on how to implement the PACs into already existing Petroleum Pumping sites.  Servicios Petrotec currently uses Opto 22 controllers to control Flexible Tubing that can go as deep as 30,000 ft below the surface to pump the black gold for Petroleos Mexicanos, PEMEX

We also had other industries including mining, sugar mills, automotive and chemical production represented in this course.  It was very exciting to see such a well qualified group of engineers take so quickly to the PAC!  You could hear the gears turning as the students began to envision the PACs grinding rocks in a mine, controlling compressor stations of aqueducts, improving chemical production reporting, controlling the flow of RFID information and expanding asset management initiatives in their place of work.

The most popular products during the course were the SNAP-PAC-S1 controller and ioProject Professional

The SNAP-PAC-S1 controller is the fastest PAC on the market today.  It has 2 ethernet ports 3 serial ports, 1 RS-485 and 2 RS-232.  It will allow you to talk with all ethernet and mistic-serial based I/O that Opto 22 manufactures and can be implemented in a hot backup configuration for large to medium sized DCS applications.

ioProject Professional is the software suite that includes ioControl, ioDisplay, OptoOPCServer and several software utilities.  ioProject Professional allows you to use backup ioDisplay clients, backup OPC Servers.  With ioProject Professional you can also set up a link redundant control network or even segment your control network from your corporate network.

The class was a great success and we already have a backlog of students for the next course.  It just goes to prove it doesn't matter what language you speak, what controllers you've used in the past, how complex your application is, a PAC can not only improve your application but it can bring the whole world together.

Viva la PAC!   - Rene
