Get the latest, freshest news from Opto 22 via RSS
It's troublesome and time-consuming to visit the Web sites of all the vendors and partners you do business with to get the latest news on products, support, and more. Email newsletters can help by sending news to your inbox, but concerns about spam, spyware, and computer viruses make it increasingly difficult to reliably send news this way.
Enter the world of Really Simple Syndication, or RSS. RSS lets you subscribe to news and other content in a standard format called an "RSS feed." Opto 22 is pleased to offer the following RSS feed subscriptions:

- It doesn't clog your inbox. While you can use an e-mail tool such as Microsoft Outlook to aggregate and read your news and information, the feeds are treated differently than e-mail.
- Blogs can be viewed from anywhere. If you choose to use a Web-based newsreader, you can gain access to your feeds from any Web browser and an Internet connection .
- It's current. Blogs are much easier for us to produce. We simply post new content, and your newsreader picks up that content automatically. No need to send e-mails.
- It's manageable. Subscribing to news and blog content is virtually the same for every participant; vendors, news sites, blogs, and more. (Subscribing to e-mail newsletters, however, varies widely from source to source.) Managing feed subscriptions, like unsubscribing and vacation holds, is standardized and much easier and quicker. There's even a handy archive for all your feeds.
What is an RSS feed?
RSS is a format used to syndicate news and other web content. This includes major news organizations such as The New York Times and Wired, but also covers blogs and other types of content. Sites that offer RSS-formatted content are accessible through a news aggregator, which feeds and displays new items from each feed you track.
What is a blog?
A blog is a journal, a running log of thoughts and or commentary that an author (or “blogger”) makes available for reading on a website. Blogging software allows bloggers to update their weblogs whenever they want. People reading the blog can respond to individual entries of the blogger, sometimes creating extended discussions.
