Possible Opto Browser Configurator problems if tag file pathname includes an '!'

Applies To:

OptoOPCServer

Versions Affected:

Problem was discovered in version: R8.1e
Problem is fixed in version: R8.2a

Resolved In Version:

Problem is fixed in version: R8.2a

Symptoms:

Opto Browser Configurator may have problems if tag file pathnames (.otg, .idb, .cdb) with an exclamation mark (!) are used to add OPC tags. Problems occur when an OPC client application does not handle the invalid argument code returned by OptoOPCServer. Notice in the image below how the path name with an "!" in the directory "!Temp" results in an endless series of subfolders by the same name.

Workaround:

Move the tag files out of the directory with the exclamation mark, or rename the directory so that it does not include an exclamation mark.

Resolution:
