Scratch pad commands in ioControl cause error –534 when used with SNAP-B3000-ENET or SNAP-ENET-D64
Revision:  4.0
Published:  8/11/2009
Applies To
ioControl Professional
ioControl Basic
Versions
Problem was discovered in version:
R6.1a

SYMPTOMS

If a SNAP-B3000-ENET or SNAP-ENET-D64 is used with the following scratch pad commands, error –534 is received when the ioControl strategy is run.

  • Get I/O Unit Scratch Pad Float Element

  • Set I/O Unit Scratch Pad Float Table

  • Get I/O Unit Scratch Pad Integer 32 Element

  • Get I/O Unit Scratch Pad Integer 32 Table

  • Get I/O Unit Scratch Pad String 32 Element

  • Get I/O Unit Scratch Pad String 32 Table

CAUSE

SNAP-B3000-ENET and SNAP-ENET-D64 I/O units do not have scratch pad areas in memory and ioControl allows scratch pad commands to be configured with these I/O units.

Since Ultimate I/O control engines have scratch pad areas and can be used as I/O units, these commands work with them and do not cause the –534 error.

RESOLUTION

ioControl and the commands listed will remain the same. Changing the command structure could potentially disrupt working installations that are using Ultimate I/O units configured as Ethernet I/O units.
