SYMPTOMS

Four-channel digital input and output states and/or feature values (such as counter values) may stop updating This can first occur 24.85 days after the unit was powered up. It can then occur at 49.7 day intervals after that.

The problem does not occur when using OptoMMP protocol to communicate with the I/O unit, such as when a SNAP-PAC controller or OptoOPCServer communicates with the I/O unit. It is only possible for this problem to occur when using the following protocols, while not using OptoMMP protocol:

  • Modbus/TCP
  • Ethernet/IP
  • SNMP

DIAGNOSIS

This condition may be diagnosed using PAC Manager.

  1. Perform an Inspect (Tools > Inspect) and Status Read of the I/O unit. Note the value of the 4-Channel Digital Scan Count field.
  2. Wait a couple seconds and Refresh the window.
  3. See if the 4-Channel Digital Scan Count field significantly changes in value (should change at a rate of 200 Hz or faster). If the value is the same or is very slowly changing, this problem may be occurring.
