OptoOPCServer crashes when using OPC 1.0 interface

Symptoms:

OptoOPCServer crashes when you are using the OPC 1.0 interface. Most customers use the OPC 2.0 interface, which is the default.

The crash error message may look similar to this:

OptoOPC.exe - Application Error
X The instruction at "0x7c9108d3" referenced memory at "0xfffffff8". The memory could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate the program.

Workaround:

Use the OPC 2.0 interface if possible.

Or contact Product Support for beta version B9.3b (9.3.1.1) dated 7/8/2013 (or newer). Use the beta version following these instructions:

Close PAC Display and all OPC clients.
Close OptoOPCServer.
Browse to the OptoCOM folder.

On Windows XP, it will be at: C:\Windows\System32\OptoCOM\
On 64-bit versions of Windows, it will be at: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\OptoCom\

4. Replace the existing version of OptoOPC.exe with the beta version.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue and will include the fix in an upcoming release.
