Network LED Dimmer using Optomux or Modbus protocol may become unresponsive

Applies To:

LED-SPCV-LV100W

Versions Affected:

Problem affects firmware revisions: 3 and lower
Problem is fixed in firmware revision: 4

Resolved In Version:

Problem is fixed in firmware revision: 4

Symptoms:

An unterminated (no End-of-Message character) packet larger than 513 characters causes the Network LED Dimmer's serial command processor for Optomux and Modbus protocols to become unresponsive.

To determine current firmware revision on your LED Dimmer:

  • For Modbus, send a Report Slave ID command and parse the data for Firmware revision.
  • For Optomux, send Read Device Info command and parse the data for the Firmware revision.

See detailed information in the Network LED Dimmer User's Guide, form 2038.

Workaround:

Any one of the following:

  • Cycle power to the Network LED Dimmer.
  • Make sure that the host sends properly formed commands with the EOM character.
  • Contact Opto 22 Product Support for an RMA, and then send the unit back to Opto 22 to be reprogrammed with newer firmware.

Resolution:
