PAC Control: EOM terminator is ignored when receiving strings via UDP

Symptoms:

This issue affects the following PAC Control commands when sent via UDP:

  • Set End Of Message Terminator
  • Receive String Table
  • Receive String
If you specify an End of Message (EOM) terminator for data, it is ignored. When receiving a string table, data containing EOM-terminated strings is not treated correctly. Instead, all data (or as much as will fit into the width of the table), is placed into the first destination table element.

The same thing applies when receiving a single string that is not part of a table; multiple EOM-terminated strings are placed into the destination string.

Workaround:

Use TCP instead of UDP.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue.
