Error in groov Build when importing Modbus tags containing Unicode characters

Symptoms:

In groov Build, when you try to import Modbus tags containing unicode characters, you see the following error message: "An error occurred while trying to interpret and save your uploaded tags."

The tags are added to the database after a page refresh, but their names contain garbage characters. You can confirm this by refreshing the page and returning to the Configure Modbus Tags dialog box.

Workaround:

  1. Edit the Modbus tags CSV file in a text editor and rename any tags that contain unicode characters.
  2. Open the Configure Modbus Tags dialog box in groov Build.
  3. Delete all garbage tags.
  4. Reimport the unicode-free Modbus tags CSV file.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue.
