Re-enabled SNAP-PAC-S1 redundant ports cannot re-enable SNAP-PAC-R1
Revision:  2.0
Published:  3/2/2007
Applies To
SNAP-PAC-S1 Controller Firmware
Versions
Problem was discovered in version:
R7.1d
Problem is resolved in version:
R8.0a

SYMPTOMS

The SNAP-PAC-R1 I/O unit cannot be re-enabled after both the primary and secondary Ethernet ports on a SNAP-PAC-S1 were disabled, and then re-enabled.

RESOLUTION

Opto 22 has resolved this issue.

MORE INFORMATION

From ioControl Professional, this is recreated by doing the following:

  • Create an empty strategy with a redundant SNAP-PAC-R1 I/O unit configured. Both IP addresses are enabled.
  • From Debug mode, run the empty strategy, then open an Inspect window for the I/O unit.
  • From the Inspect window, remove the check from Primary Address. The unit switches to the Secondary Address.
  • Remove the check from Secondary Address. The I/O unit is disabled and a warning is put into the controller error queue.
  • Check the Enabled box for the Primary Address.
  • Set ‘Communication Enabled’ for the I/O unit to "Yes" and hit "Apply.”
  • The unit is not enabled and an error is placed in the controller error queue.
