How to delay the automatic startup of ioDisplay Runtime
Revision:  1.0
Published:  9/6/2006
Applies To
ioDisplay Professional
ioDisplay Basic
Versions
Applies to ioDisplay versions released since:
R7.0a

SUMMARY

ioDisplay Runtime can automatically start when a computer is booted up by adding a shortcut to the Start Menu folder, typically found in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder. Because Runtime may begin before required services are started, a delay needs to be added before Runtime starts, otherwise the message “The ioDisplay security service (OptoDispLS.exe) is either not installed or not running. ioDisplay cannot continue and will be terminated" appears.

A one to nine second delay may be added to the command line in the shortcut’s properties to delay ioDisplay Runtime’s startup.

METHOD

  1. To the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder, add an ioDisplay Runtime shortcut to start ioDisplay Runtime at computer boot-up. Right mouse click the shortcut and select Properties.
  2. In the Target field, the path to the ioDisplay Runtime application is enclosed in quotes.
    • Add a space after the last quote and add the path and project name.

    • Add a number (1 through 60) following the project name to add a delay in seconds. 20 is recommended.
    • Example:
      "C:\Program Files\Opto22\ioProject Software 7.1\ioDisR.pro.exe" C:\Program Files\Opto22\ioProject Software 7.1\ioDisplayProExamples\ioCookies\Display\cfactory.UUI 20

  3. Click OK to close out the Properties window.
  4. Next time the computer is booted, ioDisplay will launch after the specified delay.
