FactoryFloor controllers using ARCNet as host port, and booting into loader mode

Applies To:

FactoryFloor Software- firmware loader

Versions Affected:

Problem was discovered in version: Loader version R4.0a
Resolution is included beginning in beta version: B4.0b

Symptoms:

Under very specific conditions, FactoryFloor controllers using ARCNet as the host port, could possibly not be initialized correctly and be unresponsive to applications such as OptoControl or OptoTerm.

Workaround:

Two workarounds are possible:

  1. If the kernel is not corrupt, set the controller to Boot to kernel mode. To go to loader mode, use OptoTerm, Tools→Start Terminal, and issue the >Loader command from the >> prompt. The controller will go into loader mode.
  2. If the kernel is corrupt, set one of the serial COM ports as the host port and download a new kernel.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue and will include the fix in an upcoming release.
