‘Enable Communication to I/O Unit’ command and restoring I/O configuration in ioControl

Applies To:

SNAP-UP1-ADS
SNAP-UP1-M64
SNAP-UP1-D64
SNAP-LCE

Versions Affected:

Problem was discovered in version: Firmware R6.1a
Problem was corrected in version: Firmware R7.0a

Symptoms:

The Enable Communication to I/O Unit command in ioControl does not reconfigure an Ethernet I/O unit that has recovered from a power loss. When power is restored to the Ethernet I/O unit, the configuration is set to the default settings. This results, for example, in analog points not having proper scaling, and digital outputs that are configured as inputs.

Workaround:

Save the I/O unit configuration settings to the Flash EEPROM by including the Write I/O Unit Configuration to EEPROM command in an initialization chart in ioControl. The configuration is stored to the I/O unit’s permanent memory, eliminating the dependency on the control engine for configuration.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has corrected this issue.
