Thanks to customer Konrad Miller, here's a tip that makes graphics easier in your PAC Display HMI.
If you have Microsoft® Visio® 2003, you can download five free graphics libraries on our website. You can drag these graphics into your PAC Display project or use them for presentations, bids, system designs—anywhere you'd like to use an image of Opto 22 products.
The free graphics files include pictures of:
- SNAP PAC System controllers, brains, I/O, and software
- N-TRON Ethernet switches
- Power supplies, breakout boards
- Legacy hardware
- Pumps, compressors, tanks, and other machines and devices
Use individual items or combine them in Visio to create the graphics you need. When you've finished, you can simply click the graphic in Visio and drag it into your HMI project in PAC Display Configurator.
A graphic dragged into PAC Display from Visio comes in like a .wmf, with a transparent background. (In contrast, .jpg files come in as rectangles, with a solid white background.)
Side note: We tried the drag-and-drop routine with graphics from Adobe Illustrator, but it didn't work. A graphic in Illustrator must be saved as a .wmf and then imported to PAC Display Configurator.
Our thanks to Konrad Miller for this excellent tip. Send your tip to email@example.com. If we use it, we'll send you a free Opto 22 polo shirt or 2 GB USB key!

Distributor Martindale Associates is in the news—twice. They just received certification as a women's business enterprise, and they're offering a SNAP PAC System training class this October.
The company recently received national certification as a women's business enterprise by the Center for Women & Enterprise, a regional certifying partner of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). The certification helps corporations and government agencies foster diversity among their suppliers.
Originally founded by Alvin Martindale in 1976, the company has been owned and operated by Laurie Hall since 1999. Martindale Associates provides complete automation systems and service—system design and installation, automation hardware, software programming, networking, and training—to manufacturers in the northeastern U.S.
An Opto 22 distributor for many years, Martindale is also an OptoCertified Trainer. Their SNAP PAC System classes provide hands-on experience with PAC Project automation software, SNAP PAC controllers, and SNAP I/O. If you're in the Massachusetts area, this may be exactly the training you need.
