Connectivity Week Highlights Energy Management
Connectivity Week brought together many people concerned about managing the energy their businesses use.
Opto 22's Benson Hougland, Vint Cerf (father of the Internet, V.P. of Google, and Governing Board member of the NIST Smart Grid Interoperability Panel), and others spoke about energy efficiency monitoring in Santa Clara, May 24-27, 2010.
Control Systems Integrators Association (CSIA) 2010 Executive Conference
Opto 22 was a Silver Sponsor for the CSIA Executive Conference, held in Seattle from April 29 through May 1, 2010. Opto 22's Arun Sinha talked with control system integrators about energy efficiency monitoring and industrial control products.
"The ability to monitor energy usage of systems and machines in a remote location, over the web from an iPod was the hot topic," Arun reported. "One integrator thought this would be great for a building automation project he'll be working on in the near future."
Integrators were also interested in Arun's demo of the OptoEMU's (Energy Monitoring Unit's) ability to connect to an Allen-Bradley PLC.
IBM Pulse 2010
Energy management systems were the focus at IBM Pulse 2010. Hiro Ueda and Takao Miura from our Japanese Partner/Distributor Asahi Electronics Company (AEC) and Arun Sinha and Benson Hougland from Opto 22 demonstrated energy management using the SNAP PAC System with IBM® Maximo. Maximo is the asset management software portion of IBM's Tivoli® Suite.
