PAC Manager Utility Software for SNAP PAC controllers and brains

Production Specification

PAC Manager is a configuration and maintenance utility used with all SNAP PAC System controllers and brains. It is used to assign and change IP addresses, load new firmware, configure points and features, and for one-time reads and writes to I/O points. (NOTE: For groov EPIC and groov RIO, do not use PAC Manager. Instead, use the browser-based groov Manage software that comes in your groov EPIC processor or groov RIO edge I/O module.)

PAC Manager is included in the PAC Project Basic and PAC Project Professional software suites. If you have already downloaded PAC Project, you do not need this download. It is provided as a separate download for convenience.

If you are using older/legacy controllers or brains (not SNAP PAC) with PAC Manager, see the SNAP PAC System Migration Technical Note (Form 1688) for important information.

If you use an Apple or Android-based smartphone or tablet, Opto iPAC and Opto aPAC software apps give you a simplified subset of PAC Manager's features right on your mobile device. See Opto iPAC and Opto aPAC for more information.

Installation requirements:
  • A computer running Microsoft® Windows® 10 Professional (32-bit or 64-bit) or Windows 11 Professional. Other versions of Windows operating systems and embedded Windows operating systems are not supported.
  • At least the minimum processor and memory required for your version of Microsoft Windows, and Ethernet capability. Additional memory may be required for some configurations.
  • Mouse or other pointing device.
  • VGA or higher resolution monitor (Super VGA recommended). Minimum size: 800x600 with small fonts.
  • (Optional) Installed Windows printer.
  • Available hard disk space required: 39.3 MB

PAC Project Data Sheet

The PAC Project software suite provides flowchart-based control programming, a Microsoft Windows-based HMI, and more for your groov EPIC System or SNAP PAC System. PAC Project comes in two forms: Basic and Professional.

PAC Project Basic is included free in your purchase of a groov EPIC processor or SNAP PAC controller. It includes everything you need for most automation or monitoring applications: control programming, HMI development, and I/O configuration software.

PAC Project Professional is available for purchase as a suite or as individual software components. It includes everything in Basic and adds OPC 2.0 communication, database connectivity, additional features, and support for legacy Opto 22 hardware.

SNAP PAC System Specification Guide

This guide is a comprehensive introduction to the SNAP PAC System. The guide describes the system's components (software, controllers, I/O processors, and I/O); shows how to build a basic system and how to expand it; and includes installation instructions, wiring diagrams, dimensional drawings, and specifications for parts.

Legacy Edition, PAC Manager User's Guide

This document is the Legacy Edition of the PAC Manager User's Guide. It includes information about both SNAP PAC hardware and older hardware.

Use this guide if you are using any legacy hardware (SNAP Ultimate, SNAP Ethernet, and SNAP Simple I/O, E1 and E2 brain boards) with PAC Manager (software part number PACMANAGER).

If you are using SNAP PAC controllers and SNAP PAC brains only, use Form 1704, PAC Manager User's Guide instead of this guide.

PAC Manager User's Guide

This guide shows you how to use PAC Manager to assign IP addresses, configure I/O, and inspect and maintain Opto 22 SNAP PAC hardware. PAC Manager is part of the PAC Project Software Suite and also available separately (part number PACMANAGER).

NOTE: If you are using older Opto 22 hardware in addition to SNAP PAC controllers and brains, use the Legacy Edition of this guide, form #1714.

Wireless Ad-Hoc Mode Configuration Technical Note

** NOTE: The Opto iPAC app referenced in this document is no longer available on the Apple Store. This document remains on our website for customers who already have the app and need assistance with it. **

OptoEMU Sensor energy monitoring units and Opto 22 Wired+Wireless™ SNAP PAC controllers and brains can communicate wirelessly with other wireless devices in either infrastructure or ad-hoc mode.

In ad-hoc mode, wireless devices communicate directly with each other, peer-to-peer. Ad-hoc mode is less secure but useful for temporary wireless connections, because it can be set up quickly.

This technical note shows you how to configure ad-hoc mode on the OptoEMU Sensor, controller, or brain using PAC Manager. It also includes steps for configuring ad-hoc mode on a smart phone.

Use this technical note with the AdHocConfig.zip download, which includes a file to make configuration in PAC Manager easier.

Firmware for SNAP-SCM-PROFI module

Firmware for the SNAP-SCM-PROFI module for Profibus communication.

AdHocConfig.zip

The included AdHocSettings.ciw file makes ad-hoc wireless configuration in PAC Manager easier.

The included technical note, form 1970, shows you how to configure ad-hoc mode on the OptoEMU Sensor, controller, or brain using PAC Manager. It also includes steps for configuring ad-hoc mode on a smart phone.

PAC Project Software - MSI for Command Line Installation

Use this .msi (Microsoft® Installer) installation file to install PAC Project software from the command line in Microsoft Windows®.

A command line installation of PAC Project in silent mode requires no user input once installation has begun. This is useful if you are an OEM machine builder who makes many copies of the same machine, or if you are an integrator or someone at a large company who wants to use an installation script. An .msi installation file is designed for a network-wide installation, and it works with Microsoft network features such as Active Directory.
