Out-of-range Modbus tag address causes groov to freeze

Applies To:

groov View running on:
GROOV-AR1, GROOV-AR1-SNAP
GROOV-AT1, GROOV-AT1-SNAP
GROOV-SVR-WIN, GROOV-SVR-WIN-SNAP

Versions Affected:

R2.3a and higher

Resolved In Version:

R3.1a

Symptoms:

groov Build mode freezes at "Loading Tags..." or groov View mode freezes at "Loading Pages..."

This issue results from an out-of-bounds Modbus address, such as an address of 0 using 1-base addressing or 65536 using 0-base addressing.

Workaround:

This issue occurs when you change the device base addressing if existing tags have addresses at the limits.

  • If you have tags with addresses that are at the limits (0 or 65536) and you want to change the base addressing, be sure to adjust those tag addresses first, before changing the device base addressing.
  • If you have already reached this state where groov is frozen, contact Opto 22 Product Support to receive help in fixing the tag in the project file.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue.
