PAC Control: Using custom scaling with analog points on mistic I/O units causes error
Applies To:
PAC Control Basic
PAC Control Professional
Versions Affected:
Problem affects versions: R9.4b and higher
Problem is fixed in version: R9.5a
Resolved In Version:
Problem is fixed in version: R9.5a
Symptoms:
When you run your PAC Control strategy, the controller configures the I/O units and points. If you use scaling on a mistic I/O point, communication to the I/O unit may become disabled, or the I/O values may be very inaccurate. This issue is due to a change in point scaling as of PAC Control R9.4b.
You will see the mistic I/O unit return an error. The controller will detect the error and disable communications.
Workaround:
When working with mistic I/O units, you can get around this issue by using PAC Control 9.4a or lower.
HOWEVER, by the time you see the issue, you will have opened your strategy in PAC Control R9.4b or higher, which introduced the issue into your strategy. In that case, the workaround is to:
- Find an archived version of your strategy—one that hasn't been opened in PAC Control R9.4b or higher.
- Uninstall PAC Control.
- Download and install PAC Control R9.4a.
- Open and save the archived version of your strategy.
Resolution:
Opto 22 has resolved this issue.
