Chrome erroneously reports non-secure connection
Applies To:
groov ADMIN running on:
- GROOV-AR1, GROOV-AR1-BASE, GROOV-AR1-SNAP
- GROOV-AT1, GROOV-AT1-SNAP
- GROOV-SVR-WIN, GROOV-SVR-WIN-BASE, GROOV-SVR-WIN-SNAP
Versions Affected:
All versions prior to 1.570.51
Resolved In Version:
1.570.51
Symptoms:
After you install a self-signed certificate, Chrome version 58 and newer displays a "Not Secure" message when connecting to groov Admin or groov App, even if you add the certificate to the browser trust store.

If you inspect the Security option in Chrome's Developer Tools, the you will see the following certificate error: net::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID

Workaround:
Beginning with Chrome 58, the Chrome browser no longer recognizes the Common Name field of an SSL certificate, which is the field where groov Admin and SSL Certificate Utility store the hostname. The hostname must be in the Subject Alternative Name field. Instead of using groov Admin or SSL Certificate Utility to generate self-signed certificates, use OpenSSL, which can create certificates with the Subject Alternative Name field.
