Revision:
OPC client reports a communication failure
Applies To:
OptoOPCServer
Versions Affected:
R10.0a through R10.1b
Resolved In Version:
R10.2a
Symptoms:
You may receive a "Quality Bad; Communication Failure" message when using the MMIO scanner to access tags on an I/O Unit that is part of an on-the-rack controller (such as SNAP-PAC-R1 or R2). This occurs if the I/O Unit configuration in the PAC Control strategy has the "Local (loopback address)" box checked. This tells PAC Control to use the loopback address of 127.0.0.1. However, when importing the strategy into the Opto Tag Browser, it should replace the 127.0.0.1 IP address with the actual IP address of the controller.
Workaround:
In your PAC Control strategy, edit the I/O unit and uncheck the "Local (loopback address)" check box and enter the controller's IP address into the "Address or Hostname" field. Click OK and save the strategy. In the Opto Browser Configurator, recreate the browser database file with the revised strategy.
Resolution:
Opto 22 has resolved this issue and will include the fix in an upcoming release.
