Node-RED messages are duplicated

You may see duplicate Node-RED messages, or a Node-RED message queue that is filled. This problem occurs if you have a Node-RED project with nodes of the same type that are connected together. If you move the project to another instance of Node-RED without the nodes already installed, and then you install the missing node types through the Manage Palette tool, the wires between the same node types are duplicated. These duplicate wires are difficult to see, because they are on top of each other.

The duplicate wires cause messages to be duplicated, as if they were going to multiple nodes. If more than two of the same nodes are chained together, the wire and message duplication will grow exponentially.
