Reset I/O to defaults op code does not perform all documented operations

Applies To:

Firmware for:

  • GRV-EPIC-PR1
  • GRV-R7-MM1001-10

Versions Affected:

GRV-EPIC-PR1: All versions (see Note below)
GRV-R7-MM1001-10: All versions

Symptoms:

When you stop a PAC Control strategy that turns on digital output channels or starts a TPO, and then—in the Generic MMP page of groov Manage—you write a reset to defaults operation code (2) to the Status Write Area (0xFFFF F038 0000) of the memory map, digital output channels configured for TPO still toggle the output, and any digital channels in the on state remain on.

Note: The GRV-EPIC-PR1 presented a similar issue with the Reset I/O to Defaults feature in groov Manage (see KB88247).

To get to the Generic MMP page:

groov EPIC

  1. From groov Manage Home, click I/O.
  2. Click I/O Tools.
  3. Click Generic MMP.

groov RIO

  1. From groov Manage Home, click I/O Tools.
  2. Click Generic MMP.

Workaround:

Turn off all digital outputs (which also cancels TPO) early in the PAC Control strategy (for example, in the powerup chart). One efficient way to do this is to write 0xFFFF FFFF to the must-off mask of each digital module; the must-off mask is located in the (Expanded) Digital Packed Must On/Off (MOMO) area of the memory map, beginning at base address 0xF100 1A00.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue and will include the fix in an upcoming release.
