Changes to USB Permissions Do Not Take Effect Immediately
Applies To:
Firmware for GRV-EPIC-PR1
Versions Affected:
1.5.0 to current
Symptoms:
This is an informational KB article. The groov EPIC processor is behaving correctly.
When you are changing the permissions settings on a USB storage media (from groov Manage Home, click System > USB > Permissions; switch from Secured to Unsecured, or from Unsecured to Secured), you may think that the changes take effect immediately. However, the changes do not take effect until after the controller (either PAC or CODESYS) is restarted. If you do not restart the controller, you may notice that the PAC Control strategy or CODESYS application is not writing to files on your USB storage media, even though the settings look correct.
Workaround:
Restart the PAC or CODESYS controller:
- Log into your groov EPIC processor with an ID that has Administrator privileges.
- In the groov Manage Home page, click Controller > PAC Controller or Controller > CODESYS Controller.
- Click Disable. Wait for groov Manage to indicate that it has disabled the controller.
- Click Enable. Wait for groov Manage to indicate that it has restarted the controller.
Resolution:
Future releases of groov EPIC firmware will display a message to remind you to restart the controller.
