"Definition Unknown" or Other Errors When Host/Listener Port is 22002

Applies To:

Firmware for:

  • GRV-EPIC-PR1

Versions Affected:

All versions

Resolved In Version:

3.2.0

Symptoms:

If your PAC Control strategy requests communication through port 22002, you may observe a "Definition Unknown" error or other strange behavior. The following is a partial list of ways a PAC Control strategy may request communication through port 22002:

  • Using the Start Alternate Host Task command and specifying "tcp:22002" as the connection string.
  • Using the Listen for Incoming Communication command and specifying 22002 as the port number in the communication handle.
Prior to version 3.2.0, it may have been possible to use the Opto 22 reserved port 22002 for your application's communication needs. Beginning with firmware version 3.2.0, the groov EPIC firmware will prevent any use of port 22002. You may need to update your strategies to use a different port for communication.

The Workaround section of KB87577 provides information for identifying unused port numbers. You may want to use this guidance to identify an unused port number to replace any usage of port 22002 in your strategies.

If you attempt to continue using port 22002, you will see error message -10 (Bad Port Number) in the message queue.
