For temperature input channel types, calibration offset parameter may be applied incorrectly

Applies To:

Firmware for the following groov EPICs:

  • GRV-EPIC-PR1
  • GRV-EPIC-PR2

Versions Affected:

3.2.1 to 3.2.2

Resolved In Version:

3.3.0

Symptoms:

For groov EPIC I/O units configured with a groov I/O module that reads temperatures, if you set a non-zero value for the calibration offset for a channel and then reset the module or I/O unit, the value applied by the channel for calibration offset may be incorrect. The value applied depends on how the I/O unit was configured and changed:

  • If you configured the I/O unit for °F, then you entered a non-zero value for the offset, then reset the module or I/O unit, the calibration offset value reported by the channel is 9/5ths greater than what you entered.
  • If the I/O unit was configured for °F, then you entered a non-zero value for the offset, then you switched the I/O unit to °C, then reset the module or I/O unit, the calibration offset value reported by the channel is the same as what you entered. This is incorrect; it should be 5/9ths smaller than what you entered.
  • If the I/O unit was configured for °C, then you entered a non-zero value for the offset, then you switched the I/O unit to °F, then reset the module or I/O unit, the calibration offset value reported by the channel is the same as what you entered. This is incorrect; it should be 9/5ths larger than what you entered.
IMPORTANT: After you upgrade the firmware to version 3.3.0, which fixes this issue, you will need apply the correct calibration offset to the temperature input channels affected by this issue.

Workaround:

Configure the I/O Unit for Celsius Temperature Unit. Set the desired calibration offset in Celsius for the temperature input channel then click save. Now the I/O Unit Temperature Unit can be set to Fahrenheit, if desired, and the values will be correct after a reset.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue.
