Computed Tags lose connection to OPC UA tags after restarting groov View

Applies To:

  • GRV-EPIC-PR1
  • GRV-EPIC-PR2
groov View running on the following groov Server for Windows products:
  • GROOV-SVR-WIN, GROOV-SVR-WIN-BASE, GROOV-SVR-WIN-SNAP
groov View running on the following groov products (please note that Opto 22 no longer ships updates for these products):
  • GROOV-AR1, GROOV-AR1-BASE, GROOV-AR1-SNAP
  • GROOV-AT1, GROOV-AT1-SNAP

Versions Affected:

For groov EPICs: 3.1.0 to 4.0.2
For groov Server for Windows: 4.3a to 4.5d

Resolved In Version:

For groov EPICs: 4.0.3
For groov Server for Windows: 4.5e

Symptoms:

In your groov View project, if you assign an OPC UA tag as an input to a Computed Tag and the OPC UA is not assigned to a gadget or event in the project, the Computed Tag may lose the association with the OPC UA tag after restarting groov View.

Workaround:

For affected computed tags, add the related OPC UA tags to gadgets on a hidden page:

  1. Create a new page in your groov View project and make sure to check Hidden in the Page Property panel.
  2. Add the OPC UA tags to any type of gadgets on this new page.
  3. Save your changes.
You can remove this page after you upgrade groov View to version 4.5e or higher.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue.
