With Inductive Automation's Ignition Edge
pre-installed on the groov EPIC you
00:09
know have many more options for
connecting to popular PLC's. In this
00:14
video I'll walk you through setting up
Ignition Edge for the first time. I'll
00:18
cover starting Ignition Edge from groov
Manage. Logging intoIgnition Edge, and
00:24
changing the default username and
password. How to apply the license key,
00:28
and lastly how to activate the two
included modules. Now if you haven't
00:34
purchased any licenses yet you can run
Ignition Edge in trial mode for two
00:39
hours at a time.
groov View allows you to connect to OPC-UA
00:43
servers including the OPC-UA server
built into Ignition Edge. Inductive
00:50
Automation'sIgnition Edge license
activates Ignition Edge in the groov
00:55
EPIC and includes drivers to
Allen-bradley, Siemens, Modbus, groov
EPIC
01:00
and Snap PAC. You may purchase your
Ignition Edge license from Opto 22 by
01:06
presenting the part number on the screen.
Ok
01:10
let's login to our groov EPIC. Open a
web browser and navigate to your groov
01:15
EPIC by typing HTTP colon slash slash
the hostname or IP address login with
01:25
your groov Manage user name and
password now click on the Ignition Edge
01:31
menu option. This overview page will show
you if Ignition Edge is running and if
01:38
the Ignition Designer option is enabled.
If this is your first time here go ahead
01:43
and select the switch to enable and run
Ignition Edge at startup. Now don't
01:48
forget to click the save option up the
top corner. Click open Ignition Edge to
01:55
launch the gateway. Go ahead and accept
the warnings. It's going to take up a
02:02
moment for the gateway to start up the
very first time. And, now let's log in
02:10
with the default username and password
of admin and password the very first
02:18
thing you should do is change these by
clicking on configure then under
02:25
security on the left click on users
roles click on manage users and then
02:35
edit go ahead and change the user name
check this box and type in the password
02:45
twice. Scroll all the way to the bottom
and click Save.
02:55
Ok now let's log out and log back in
with this new username and password. Ok
03:06
great now we can apply our license click
on the large activate button on the
03:13
upper right
if the groov EPIC has access to the
03:17
Internet then you simply click on
activate online enter your key and click
03:26
activate and we're done.
if your groov EPIC doesn't have access
03:31
to the internet then click on no
internet connection and follow the three
03:36
steps outlined on this page. Basically
what you're going to need to do is
03:41
download the offline activation request
file transfer that file to a computer
03:47
that does have internet connectivity and
then upload it to the URL shown save the
03:53
returned license file onto the computer
and then upload it to your groov EPIC
03:58
now it's really important to note that
before you update your groov EPIC
04:03
firmware or if you need to reset your
EPIC back to factory defaults you should
04:08
first un-activate your license so that you can
reactivate it after the update or the
04:14
reset.
You should also un-activate your license
04:18
first if you intend on moving it to
another groov EPIC by un-activating and
04:23
then reactivating you avoid having to
contact Inductive to have the license
04:28
reinstated. To un- activate you simply
click on the trash can icon here and
04:36
then click yes to one activate now the
last thing to do is uncor intend the two
04:44
modules that are included with the
Ignition Edge which is the serious link
04:48
MQTT module and the opto 22 groov EPIC
Snap PAC driver to activate these two
04:55
click on configure up at the top then
modules on the side under system scroll
05:05
all the way down till you see the two
modules on the bottom of the list click
05:10
on the install button next to the module
that you want to add then confirm when
05:17
asked. Then scroll down and accept the
license agreement.
05:28
Check the box that you accept the
security certificate and you're done. Go
05:35
back and follow the same process for the
other module. so that's it your groov
05:41
EPIC is now fully setup with Ignition Edge
05:44
check out training.opto22.com for
other videos that show you how to
05:50
connect your groov EPIC to an Allen
Bradley PLC and display its data on your
05:55
mobile ready groov View screens or how
to send your data to an MQTT broker.
06:01
Until next time, cheers mate!
