Updating firmware through SoftPAC Monitor may leave SoftPAC unstable

Applies To:

SoftPAC
SoftPAC Monitor

Versions Affected:

All versions to current

Symptoms:

When you update SoftPAC firmware through SoftPAC Monitor, an error message may display, and SoftPAC Monitor may lock up, making SoftPAC unstable or unusable. If you encounter this, you may need to close the SoftPAC Monitor window from your computer taskbar or restart your computer.

If SoftPAC remains unstable, reinstall PAC Project Professional.

Workaround:

Before updating the SoftPAC firmware:

  1. Right-click the SoftPAC-Rxxx.bin file that you downloaded from the Opto 22 website.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. In the Security section at the bottom of the General tab, check the Unblock box.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Continue to update the firmware through SoftPAC Monitor like normal. For complete instructions, review the SoftPAC Quick Start Guide (form 2045).
